MCP - Model Context Protocol POC

This was a quick turn-around project where our CPO wanted a proof-of-concept for a new technology called MCP which a good amount of our customers were asking for in the light of new AI tooling. There were just a few small speed bumps in addition to the vague requirements:

  • I didn't know what MCP was

  • I didn't know what MCP data looked like

  • I didn't know how MCP worked

This was the first time I had to design for something I had no idea what it was! Let alone in two weeks! Luckily I was able to research quickly and collaborated with a Product Management partner to come up with user stories that guided the designs.

I ended up designing what our Pluralsight data would look like in three different tools: Slack, Github, and a development IDE. Our use cases were:

  • A B2B Leader using Claude in Slack to find out through Pluralsight's analytic data if their team was ready to use agentic AI

  • An Engineering leader using Co-Pilot in Github to understand where their team's skills were weak and which Pluralsight assessments and courses they should focus on learning to skill up

  • A software engineer using Claude inside of their development environment to immediately suggest and find Pluralsight courses so they could finish their project

I delivered not only static images of what these might look like, but also created a timed Quicktime movie file with the images rotating, as well as a browser-based Figma link with the rotating images. The video file and link were created to allow leadership and Sales to easily speak to these concepts in presentations.
